Hreflang describes equivalent language versions. It works alongside accurate content, stable URLs and canonical settings.
Map equivalent pages explicitly
Pair each English page with its corresponding BM topic. Use valid language codes and appropriate regional targeting only when intended. Include reciprocal references and the page’s own version. Do not point a detailed article to the other language’s homepage as if they were equivalent.
Keep language and canonical consistent
Ensure the body genuinely uses the declared language. Keep each valid translation accessible and normally self-canonical. A language selector should use ordinary working links. Avoid forcing visitors to another language solely from location, especially when it prevents access to the page they requested.
Validate the full pair after publishing
Check status codes, alternate links and canonical destinations for both pages. Repeat after slug changes or page removal. Record missing translations so templates do not emit links to nonexistent URLs. Review a sample in search tools while remembering that annotations do not guarantee a particular displayed result.
