A slow hero section can delay the first useful impression of your service. Diagnose the actual LCP element before changing image quality or layout.
Identify the delaying stage
Use browser performance tools to identify the LCP element and request timeline. The delay may come from the server, late image discovery, a large transfer or rendering blocked by scripts. Compressing an image cannot solve every one of these causes.
Make essential content discoverable
Place important content in the initial HTML where practical. Do not lazy-load the likely LCP image. Supply appropriately sized sources and consider fetch priority only after confirming the critical resource; giving every image high priority creates competition.
Retest the complete first screen
Test mobile and desktop layouts because their LCP elements may differ. Check readable text, image sharpness and the enquiry button after optimisation. Record multiple comparable runs and monitor field results when available before declaring the issue resolved.
