Lazy loading helps defer images that are not immediately needed. Apply it according to page position and visitor behaviour.
Keep the first screen ready
Load the main visible image normally, especially when it is the likely LCP element. Do not apply a blanket lazy-loading rule to every image component. Different templates may place the same component above or below the fold.
Defer lower-page media
Use native lazy loading for suitable lower-page images and retain explicit dimensions. For heavy videos, consider a lightweight preview that loads the player when requested. Keep controls clearly labelled and ensure essential information is available without starting a video.
Test normal scrolling
Scroll at realistic speeds on a throttled mobile connection. Check for blank areas, shifting cards and failed media. Verify search-visible content is not dependent on a user action that merely exists to trigger downloading.
