A redesign changes presentation, but it should also preserve useful information and working customer routes.
Inventory before changing structure
Export existing URLs, important downloads and enquiry paths. Review search and analytics data to identify pages people actually use. Record the current title, purpose and destination for every page being replaced. Do not remove an effective service page simply because it is absent from the new design mockup.
Map content and redirects
Keep useful URLs where practical. When a URL must change, map it to the closest relevant replacement rather than sending everything to the homepage. Preserve documents and internal links. Review translation pairs and canonical settings so the redesigned site does not unintentionally collapse distinct pages.
Test the whole enquiry journey
Test forms, WhatsApp links, phone links and confirmation messages on staging and after launch. Compare old and new URL coverage. Monitor errors and enquiry volume, accounting for traffic changes. Keep a rollback plan and a named owner for urgent fixes during the transition.
