An unindexed page needs investigation by reason and business importance. Not every excluded URL represents a problem.
Separate expected exclusions
Redirects and alternate canonical pages may be intentionally excluded. Start with URLs that should be independent search destinations. Inspect a representative example from each reason group, checking the live response, canonical and indexing directives. Do not treat the total excluded count as a defect count.
Investigate discovery and content
For discovered or crawled-but-unindexed pages, review internal links, duplication and whether the page answers a distinct question. Confirm important content is visible in the rendered result. Compare with the intended audience and service scope. Adding a sitemap entry alone does not resolve weak or repetitive content.
Track a controlled repair
Record the issue, change date and affected URL sample. Request recrawling where appropriate after meaningful corrections, then allow time for processing. Check both the live page and report dates. Measure relevant impressions and enquiries after indexing rather than treating index inclusion as the final business outcome.
