Phone commissioning can simplify installation when identity, permissions and verification are built into the workflow.

Identify the correct physical sensor

Use a label or approved identification method to link the app entry to the installed asset. Avoid selecting a device solely because its signal is strongest. Show the current identity and require confirmation before changing another machine’s sensor configuration.

Validate inputs before applying

Collect required units, reporting interval and location using controlled choices where practical. Check values on the device as well as the app. Show progress and distinguish saved locally from confirmed on the sensor when the connection is interrupted.

Close with a verified reading

Read back the applied configuration and confirm a plausible measurement reaches the intended system. Record installer, time and device revision where required. End temporary commissioning access and provide a documented recovery path for a replacement phone.

FAQ

Must commissioning always have internet access?

Not necessarily, but offline identity, authorisation and later synchronisation must be explicitly designed.
