Device selection and installation both matter
Baztech’s work with Dragino equipment includes lubricant-oil and transformer-oil tank monitoring. The technologies discussed include DDS75-LB/LS distance sensors, S31-LB/LS temperature and humidity sensors, and the LPS8N indoor LoRaWAN gateway. DDS75 uses ultrasonic distance measurement; S31 measures temperature and humidity. They serve different measurement requirements.
In tank monitoring work, our team encountered inconsistent readings associated with sensor placement and reflections near tank walls. The practical lesson is to assess the measurement path and validate the installed reading, rather than rely only on a sensor’s catalogue range.
Checking the measurement in its real setting
Validation should use the intended liquid and an appropriate reference measurement. A water trial alone does not establish suitability for an oil application. This page does not claim that every sensor is suitable for every oil, tank shape or environment; those conditions must be reviewed for the selected model.
Transmission intervals also form part of the battery budget. Less frequent radio reporting can reduce transmission activity, but battery life depends on the complete configuration, measurement behaviour and site conditions.
Questions about this integration
Does DDS75 use radar?
No. It is an ultrasonic distance sensor. Radar models should be identified separately.
What should an oil-tank enquiry include?
Supply the liquid type, tank dimensions, mounting position, expected level range, reporting interval and alert requirements. These details help define the sensor and integration scope.
