A custom node for agricultural sensor integration
Baztech developed a universal agriculture sensor node using an earlier-generation Espressif ESP8266 module. The board supports UART, RS485 and I²C interfaces, providing several options for connecting sensor hardware in the application.
The design brings the controller, sensor connections and data-logging hardware onto a custom PCB. Interface selection depends on the sensor being integrated and its communication requirements.
RTC and SD card for data logging
The board includes a real-time clock (RTC) and an SD card interface. The RTC provides the time reference for recorded measurements, while the SD card provides local storage for sensor data.
Together, these features support a data-logging application that associates sensor readings with time information. The supplied photograph shows the green PCB, ESP8266 module, coin-cell holder, memory-card slot and labelled terminal connections.
UART, RS485 and I²C integration
The three supported interfaces give the project flexibility when working with different agricultural sensors. UART provides a serial communication option, RS485 supports the corresponding sensor interface, and I²C provides another connection option for compatible hardware.
