Connecting embedded applications to a remote server
Baztech’s cellular integration work includes SIMCom SIM7600 and A7682E modules on third-party carrier boards, used with ESP32-C3-based applications. The microcontroller communicates with the cellular hardware using AT commands over UART. The described applications use MQTT and HTTPS for telemetry.
The carrier board is part of the hardware selection, alongside the modem itself. Our work uses third-party boards whose circuitry addresses the modem’s power-delivery needs, including transmission activity. A particular carrier-board implementation should still be checked against the intended power source and operating conditions.
Specify the whole cellular assembly
For a new enquiry, supply the full modem variant and carrier-board model, target mobile network, data volume, power arrangement and server interface. Module family names alone do not establish network-band compatibility or the total system’s energy requirement.
The integration scope can include hardware selection, firmware communications and the server-side telemetry interface, with testing defined around the intended application.
Questions about this integration
Is UART the internet connection?
UART carries commands and data between the microcontroller and modem. The modem provides the cellular network connection used by the application.
Can an existing ESP32 board be adapted?
Baztech can assess its available UART, power supply and firmware requirements before proposing a cellular integration approach.
